Baccarat Techniques

New and experienced baccarat players who are looking to improve their gaming abilities should be aware of all of the different techniques that are available to them. The following ideas and strategies will help players of all skill levels win more frequently and have more fun playing.

Card Counting

Though card counting is not for the faint of heart--or for those who struggle with mathematics skills--many players have reported varying levels of success when using card counting strategies in baccarat games. This is often argued by mathematicians who state that the varying number of decks and low number in cards in play at any given time make the game of baccarat uncountable, experience counters still swear by this method and are often willing to share their expertise--for a price, of course.

The 1-3-2-6 Betting System

While this system has a more fundamental basis and tends to work better than traditional card counting, it cannot always be relied upon. In order to use it, players will start with a standard betting unit; for this example, $1.00. If the player wins the bet, they will graduate to the next number in the sequence and bet $3.00. This continues until the player has reached the six-unit mark--or $6.00, in this example--and the player never wagers more than six units. If the player loses a hand, they will go back to the previous number in the sequence, multiply it by their standard unit, and bet that amount.

Neither of these techniques can guarantee players a win, but they may help minimize the amount that a player loses in a gaming session. As a result, players often state that by using these techniques, they are able to walk away from a baccarat table with more money than ever before.
